Metroid Prime 3, a Phazon cannons on look.

Yes, I finally have it, just a couple days late but no dollars short of glorious.  If you really really care about the game being spoiled, be careful about reading this, even though most of it is common knowledge to Metroid Prime fans anyway.  This game is just as good as you thought it would be.  Controls, like always, take time to get use to, but are really good and soo far, no complaints from me about them.  And the game looks very nice, not much nicer than MP2 but deffinetly a little better.  The begining wasn’t what I expected, not that thats a bad thing, but I just thought it was going to start like any other Metroid game where you lose all your powers then fight through to get them back.  What really happened was a refreshing twist to what I thought would happen.  So far I’ve fought what I think is the coolest battle in the MP series, and it was against Meta Ridley, it was fresh.  I hope this game keeps me this excited the whole time, I’m sure it will.

Guitar Hero 3 Wii

Wow, am I happy that this is happening.  I love Guitar Hero, its a great franchise and keeps me enthralled for hours, even if I’m just watching.  The game is going to be out this fall, and for all you lucky Wii owners it will be 10 bucks cheaper than for the other systems, $89.99 is what it’ll cost us.  The Wii-remote will plug into the back of the guitar, and since you can’t aim it at the screen, there will be a joystick on the guitar.  Guitar Hero 3 will be online play and there will be multi-player games, both co-op and competetive.  Whenever you miss a note, you will hear the screech sound through your wii-mote.  The Wii version will have all the same songs as the PS3 and XBOX 360.  But also you can pay and download songs onto your Wii.  I can’t wait till this game comes out and when I get it, I probably will wast countless hours on it.  Till then I can keep dreaming, or actually playing guitar.

The Bigs

First let me just say,  I guess someone else feels there is a lack of sports games too because they just recently announced NBA Live 08 for the Wii.  Since my last post about sports pointed out a lack in games I decided to do some research on The Bigs.  The Bigs is an arcade style baseball game created by 2K sports that came out on June 25th 2007.  It’s not exactly a baseball simulation because you can do crazy things that I’m pretty sure no one in real life could do.  Like say if you timed your pitch perfectly you throw a strike thats on fire, I have yet to see that in the MLB.  This was indeed the first full baseball game to come out for the Wii.  I wish it would have been be EA Sports, but beggars can’t be choosers.  There is no Franchise mode in The Bigs but there is a mode called the Rookie Challenge, where you create a player and try to take him to the top of the leauge.  The Wii controls work pretty much just as you would think they do in a baseball game.  While fielding  you must flick the Wii-mote right for first base, up for second, left for third, and down for home.   This larger than life baseball game seems to be loads of fun and good times.

Well I’ll just start by saying Metroid Prime 3 was shipped today, and boy oh boy is it gonna be kicking.  Anyway back to the VC update.  Today some alright games landed for VC, none that I was looking forward to but when I saw I said, “Hey, thats not too bad.  I wouldn’t mind one of thoose.”  First off, Super C for the NES(500 Wii points).  This is like one of the pioneers for now-a-days action shooter games.  Really not an easy game, but fun.  Next Ghouls n Ghosts for Sega(800 Wii points).  This is just like Super Ghouls n Ghosts (for the SNES) except Super had better graphics.  And Finally an RPG fans will enjoy, Breath of Fire 2 for the SNES (800 Wii points).  This is what all you turn based RPG fans have been asking for, sure its not soo well known but, from what I gathered, is quite the good game.  So there you have it, Classic games on a modern system.

Hey everybody, Do you remember Tales of Symphonia? You do? Well good, because its probably the game that I have logged the most hours in, quoted the most, and just loved. It saved the rpg starved Gamecube a few years back and has become a fan favorite. The ending of the game leaves you wanting more, it makes you wish there was a sequel, a continuation of the story. Well, good things come to those who wait and want, and sometime in the hopefully near future “Knights of Ratatosk” will be here. A game built from the ground up exclusively for the Wii. The story picks up three years after Tales of Symphonia, and has you play as Emil and Malta. Together you journey through a new world, a fusion of Tethealla and Sylvarant. Sadly the original characters from the first game are not playable characters, but they are still in the story and you will get to meet up with them. I wonder if Lloyd ever did marry Collette, man that should have happened in ToS. Anyway expect to see all of the old locations and towns plus brand new ones. Also you should be excited for all new crazy cool Wii control. The battle system is similar to Tales of The Abyss, so you can actually run around and fight in 3-d, Personally I enjoy Symphonia’s battle system more. Once again, I have no idea when this game is coming out but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Dear reader, don’t die.

Prove Something

Well, its that time of the year again. Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground will release this October. This is the ninth game in the series, and while some games in the series have had their hiccups, this one looks like its out to prove something. Like the games title, you start out as a skater (obviously) and want to prove your worth in any way possible. You can do whatever you want, whenever you want. There are three ways to prove your worth. There is Career, in which you try to become the next Tony Hawk, Rigger, in which you build a lot of skateboarding stuff, like ramps and trick boxes, and then theres my favorite, Hardcore, where you don’t give a hoot about money or fame, you just like the art of skateboarding. As you start going up in the ranks of whatever career you want you earn respect and ultimately prove that you are a skater in every sense of the word. Adding to the features of last years game, we have “nail the grab” and “nail the manual”. Those are like last years nail the trick, where you use the two analog sticks as your feet, hands, etc. So if your doing “nail the manual”, one analog stick will be your front foot, and control weight distribution and control, and the other analog stick your other foot. It’s kinda confusing but you’ll just have to buy the game and see for yourself. A new thingy in Proving Ground is a brand new video editor. This isn’t like instant replay folks. This is like you create your own skate video and it looks professional. There are a load of options and things to play around with in the video editor and when you have finished your masterpiece showing off your stuff you can upload it online and try to “prove” your worth there. There are a bunch of other new tricks and bells and whistles in this game but thats up to you to find them. Oh one last thing, it has a stellar 54 soundtracks!

Wii Need Some Sports.

Yeah so Nintendo gave us Wii sports, big deal(it is a good game, just not sportsy enough).  It was more like a demo anyway.  What I’m talking about is some sweet sports games.  Hockey, Tennis, Bowling, there are many games that the Wii could do and do really well.  Why doesn’t Nintendo give us some Tennis game where you can actually control your player.  What about a basketball game, can the Wii do that?  I believe so, its just why haven’t they done it yet?  I’m a big sports guy and I really enjoy the Madden Wii games.  So it makes me wonder, if EA can make a football game for the Wii, where is MVP Baseball and why don’t we have it?  Well there you have it, I think Wii are in need of some serious sports games.

While thinking of games to come at the end of ‘07, I thought to myself, WOW this is going to be one kicking holiday season. Everyone who’s anyone is going to be happy this time around. So we won’t even count Metroid 3 as a holiday game, which got a 10 in Nintendo Power, but the others make up for it and still kick tail. First of earlier in the season we have Halo 3 which comes out for the XBOX 360 on September 25th(which is practically November). Next we have Super Mario Galaxy, coming in November, exclusive to the Wii. And one most people are looking forward to, (drum roll please) Super Smash Brothers Brawl, debuting on the Wii on December 3rd. Well I hope you have a Wii before Christmas for these two gems. I’m so sad Christmas only comes once a year.

Super Mario Galaxy

rvl_supermario_logo01.jpg    This game is really exciting!  I’m a big fan of the Mario games and this one looks to be a wonderful one.  My favorite Mario game was Super Mario World, but a close second was Mario 64.  What I liked about Mario 64 was the fact that it was fun to just play the game, it seemed like finding stars was just a secondary mission sometimes.  So far all the stuff I’ve seen about Galaxy has looked like a newer, more visually attractive Mario 64.  In Galaxy you travel to different planets and wear different suits to beat the different worlds, and more than likely save the Princess.  There are some pretty cool suits announced so far, like the Bee suit, where Mario turns into a bumble bee, and the Boo suit, where he can be a Boo.  This game looks like its going to be a really really good game, and I can’t wait till it comes out hopefully around the ‘07 holiday season.  tt

Virtual Console 8/20/07

super-metroid-boite.jpg Well I missed it by a day, but its still here. The virtual console releases of Monday were some games that fans dream about at night (well some nights). The very long awaited and anticipated Super Metroid finally arrived on the beloved Super Nintendo for 800 points. Next a game many people know the name because of remakes, Shinobi 3: Return of the Ninja Master. This game is out on the Sega for 800 Wii points, and is a good game, if you like ninja sneak around types of games. And last but not least Neutopia, which looks a whole lot like a Zelda game, but actually isn’t. This came out for the Turbo-Grafx 16 and is only 600 points to download. This was a nice week for Virtual Console, Thank You Nintendo.
