Are Games Legendary Anymore?

I was just playing Super Mario World, and a thought rushed to my head.  This game is amazing!  After more than ten years, I’m still playing it!  It is such a good game, and I love it.  Also, it was just plain fun to play.  I was then thinking what games, if any are legendary like this one.  Then I thought, it all depends on the person.  For example, one of my alltime favorites, is Tales of Symphonia, yet not everyone agrees with its legacy.  I love alot of games, but some aren’t fun, some aren’t the same as the old days.  I guess what I’m saying is, that great games are more rare now.  Maybe everything has been done?  I don’t know?  I haven’t seen a single game from this generation that has amazed me completely.  Halo 3 is great, but not very original.   You know this really shouldn’t be a post, since I’m just talking outloud, and it’s probably really boring, so I’m sorry I just wasted a few minutes of your life.  Here’s a cool picture.

Console Updates

Some news today.  The Playstation 3 is going to have a new SKU.  That means that there is going to be a new model perse.  It will be released this fall.  The system is supposed to be cheaper than ever, at $400.  Thats one sweet deal, because you would pay more than that just for a BD player, and your getting the Ps3 on top of it.  The console will have wifi thankfully, but is supposed to drop its usb port count to make it have 2.  Who the heck cares about that anyway?  And their dropping memory card readers.  Big deal.  So this is pretty substantial news folks, this could boost the Ps3’s sales.  I know it will.  On a side note, Microsoft has officially abandoned the Core system.  Who bought that thing anyway?  They are however rumored to release a system codenamed “arcade”.  It lacks a hard drive, comes with a wireless controller, comes with a memory card and is the same exact thing as the flippin core.  No word yet on when the Arcade will be “unleashed”.

What’s next?

Halo 3 happened. Granted, it’s still going to be news years from now, the main event is over. As I am always looking to the future, I am wondering what next milestone game is next? Halo Wars bears the name and has the potential to be great, but lets take our eyes off of the Bungie ok? Konami is producing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. This game looks to be insane. It’s crazy in the effect that it has spectacular graphics, amazing gameplay, and a great story. It’s not out yet, but its one of the games that I am most looking forward to. It’s one of the reasons to own a Playstation 3. The second reason? Final Fantasy XIII and its counterpart, Final Fantasy XIII Versus. These games are going to go through the roof in the aspect of everything. Forger your little Halo and Gears, this is freaking Final Fantasy! I have no idea into how far Square-Enix is in development (probably 2008-2009 release) but it will be worth the wait. Like MGS4, these games have it all, graphics, gameplay, and story. Those are my some of my top games that are coming out. Other ones that look to be amazing are: Assassins Creed, Call of Duty 4, Star Wars: Force Unleashed, Killzone 2, Mass Effect, Super Smash Brothers, Metal Gear Online, Super Mario Galaxy, and a ton of other games. I consider myself fortunate to be alive in this era where video games are evolving so much.

Halo Crazyness!!! Ahhh!

In a mere hour Halo 3 and all of its insaneness will unleash. People have lined up to finish the fight. Folks want their game and want it bad. Theres probably more people lined up tonight then there was for the ps3 launch. Let me rephrase that….There are WAY more people lined up than at the ps3 launch. Anyway, in an hour or so one of the bigger games of this year will be released. I hope its really good. Like unbelievably good. It got good reviews, like 9.5’s and 10’s, so it must be awesome. One thing sucks though, I was watching a video of someone apologizing to Halo 3 fanboys because he was mean to them before, in the end he tells us the end of Halo 3. That sucks for everyone who likes Halo, and believe me people were mad at him. So mad that you shouldn’t read the comments. All that is found over at Kotaku.com. Heres some pics of NYC launch.First picture is the first guy in line.  Second picture is the second guy in line who doesn’t look to happy.  Third picture is some freaky BK dude.  I did take these pictures from Kotaku.com  so full credit goes to them.  I’m sadly not in NYC right now so I cant possibly take pictures.

Virtual Console 9/24/07

Filed under:Review, Wii — posted by Icarus on @ 5:15 pm

Man, school is really busy.  But I’m sure you will be glad to know that I got a 96 on my Civics test.  Not glad?  Well how bout this, its Monday, also known as Virtual Console day.  Today some stuff came out, you know games that we might play but not soo much.  I was expecting Nintendo to give us an answer for Halo 3 but, we didn’t get anything that good.  Well first off for Super Nintendo is Kirby’s Avalanche (800 Wii points).  At first glance I was a little excited and then I remebered that it was just a puzzle game.  If they want to give us a puzzle game, please give us Tetris Attack.  That was the 2nd best puzzle game ever, Tetris being the first of course.  But if you like puzzle games, and you like Kirby, it might be worth 8 bucks.  Next, a game which probably is pretty good, Streets of Rage 3 for the Sega(800 Wii points).  As I’ve said before, I love Streets of Rage 2, and I’m assuming that Streets of Rage 3 is better, if not the same.  So if you liked two, which I did, then you should pick up 3, which I probably will sometime.  And last but certainly least, well actually I’ve never heard of it, Legend of Hero Tonma (TG-16  600 Wii points).  But basically this is on of thoose cliche games where you need to save the princess and you can jump on the heads of your enemies.  Quite frankly I was ashamed of the list today, Microsoft has Halo 3 this week and what do we get?  Some Mario rip off dude who not too many people have heard of, some puzzle game, and an all right sequel to a great fighting game.  Seriously, where is my Super Mario Brothers 3?

Haiti

Resident Evil 5. Totally going to be a sick game. Literally and metaphorically. Anyway, when the trailer was released, it showed the main character mowing down and killing lets just say it: black people. This received some serious words from people complaining that there is obvious racial issues with this game. Woah, hang on a second and allow me to disagree. Killing has been a part of gaming since the early days, and most all games have you killing white people. What about RE4? I find this whole racism thing fascinating. We killed white people in other games but as soon as we have killing black people in a video game we have to address the “issue”. This may be a rant and I’m sorry if I’m wasting your time. Do you think I’m being racist? I’m not, I’m just telling the truth. If you or anyone is offended by this game, then you don’t have to play it. Simple. Anyway the whole point of this article, as you can see in the heading, is that this game supposedly takes place in Haiti. Yippee!

Final Fantasy

Hey guys!  Final Fantasy IV is set to come out on the DS.  There really isnt much that I can tell you because there isn’t much to know.  Obviously this game will be in fantastic 3-d, and will feature all that was in the past game as well.  This is like Final Fantasy III DS except better.  Alot better.  I mean FF4 is probably the best FF to date.  It has epic boss battles, make you cry drama, and even a frying pan.  Or was that a kitchen sink?  I can’t remember.  Anyways this game is set for release in Winter 2007.  For Japan.  Expect this as a spring or early summer game here in the U.S.  Although by the amount of times this game has been remade, we should all have memorized the story and everything so theres no problem importing.  See you around.  Not really.

Eye See You

The Playstation 3 Eye, will launch October 23rd this year. What is it? Its like a camera eye thingy. Think of it like the Ps2 one except better. Bundled with it is a game called Eye Of Judgement, some card battle interactive crap. Who wants to play cards on their ps3? Anyway, it looks pretty cool, you can video tape yourself and add effects and stuff, and you can take pictures too. Sony better release some of those cool games on the Ps3 that utilize the eye like on the Ps2. Those games were fun. This all sounds pretty nice huh? Well guess how much it is? Wow its only $69.99. Wait a second $69.99? Thats pretty darn expensive, but hey people will pay anything for something that says Sony.

No going home for a while

Sony’s thing called “Home” will be delayed until Spring 2008.  They are fixing the user interface.  This really doesn’t bother me one bit.  I don’t want to “live” virtually.  Overall it looks pretty cool and sounds interesting, but just not for me personally.  I’m sure the delay will make it a better experience, I mean just look at how many games were delayed seemingly forever, Zelda anyone?  So yea thats pretty much it.

Let there be rumble!

Sony has confirmed that there will be a new updated Ps3 controller.  Titled Dualshock 3, it will feature everything the old controller was, plus rumble.  Pretty much every game that is released will support it.  The older titles might have updates and they might not.  I hope they do.  This is pretty good for Sony, since it is kinda mandatory to have rumble.  The N64 had rumble so for goodness sake, its about time ps3!  I heard a rumor that the new controllers are a tad heavier which is expected but nevertheless a little unfortunate.
