Release on the Wii Shop Channel 7-14-08

Well today actually two games came out on the Virtual Consone and one game came on to the Wiiware.  First up is Donkey Kong 3 for the NES at 500 Wii points.  OH NO, Donkey Kong has broken into Stanley the Bugman’s greenhouse.  Help him in this game to stop the havok cause by Donkey Kong and restore peace to the greenhouse.  Next up for the Neo Geo coming in at 900 Wii points is Ninja Commando.  Ninja commando is an action shooter that origanally came out in May of ‘92. And finally for Wiiware is Major League Eating:  The Game.  I don’t know much about this game except that its about eating.  Well today wasn’t a terrible day for the VC but it certainly wasn’t good.

Mega Man 9

As you all probably knew already, Mega Man 9 is coming to Wiiware soon and should be an excellent game.  A new classic Mega Man game?  What could be better?  It’s not only coming out on Wiiware, but it’s also being released on the 360 and the PS3 and their respectful download services.  Great news because everybody is a winner.  Mega Man games are hard, and I could never actually beat one.  This time I’m gonna do it.  Look for a full review of this game around the time it comes out (which is probably in a couple of weeks).

As you can see above, it mentions all of the systems networks.  Yay!

Tales of Hearts

Good evening everyone.  I have been away from my computer for a while and decided to get back to posting.  So I figured, why not start by posting about a new game in my favorite series?  Tales of Hearts is the newest Tales game being developed for the DS.  Details are slim now but we can assume that it will follow the usual Tales formula, great story, graphics, and battle system.  Namco always updates their battle system with each new installment, so it should be interesting to find out what they cooked up this time.  Maybe spicy soup.  As said before, this game will have awesome graphics, the backgrounds will be 3-D, the characters 2-D, and there will even be CGI cutscenes which I think is a first for a Tales game.  This is the third Tales game for the DS in Japan, and if it is released here, (please!!!!) it will be the first.  I wish I knew japanese so I could import all of these games.  Incase you didn’t know, there are a ton of Tales games unreleased here.  Thats it for now, can’t wait to post again!

Well now that the Wiiware has come out The BIG N has been shorting us on Virtual console games, a very disappointing choice that I’m sure many people aren’t happy with. The only redeeming quality of Wiiware is that I’ve heard we are getting a kick butt back to classic Megaman game. Well now that my opinion is out there (if you didn’t catch that my opinion is stop with the Wiiware and keep strong with Virtual Console.) Well here is what did come out today. For the Wiiware a game called Spogs Racing. The game seems like a cheesy Wii version rip off of a burnout title. The point is to cause damage and steal your opponets car parts by using weapons equipped to your vehicle. While I haven’t played SPOGS Racing, I’m not expecting much at all from this title. Next the only release on the VC this week is King Of Monsters for the Neo Geo. This was a classic SNK fighting game that was made in 1991. This game is apparently the first Godzilla fight game. So I’m not too sure on this one either. Anyway this day stinks. Good night.

The best game ever, almost.

Tales of Symphonia was a long awaited RPG for the Gamecube.  ToS
came out in the summer of 2004 and was one of the first great RPG’s
for the Gamecube.  The game uses a special fighting style that is
different from most RPG’s.  This style lets you control any character
and actually fight with him/her instead of selecting an action like
most turnbased RPG’s.  ToS anime style graphics really excited me when
I first saw them.  The cut scenes really seem like your watching a TV anime
show or something.  I’ve beaten this game 8 times and I’m still having
fun playing.  This game is in 2 discs, approximately 80 hours of game
play the first time through.  Although after you beat the game and
know what to do it takes a lot less time.  This game has a lot of
puzzles and some can be pretty difficult.  Past the puzzles the game
is easy to follow.  The storyline is about the fate of the world lying
in the hands of the Chosen, Colette, a little girl.  You follow
Colette and her friends, Lloyd (a swordsman), Genis (a spellcaster),
and Professor Sage (a healer) as they make their trip around the world
on the World Regeneration Journey.  In order to regenerate the world
they need to find and break seals (not animals but bonds) all around
Sylvarant (their world).  After a while the journey takes you to a different                                                 world Tethe’alla.   It is your job to ensure the completion of the world regeneration.

I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys either a great RPG or a good story.  If you don’t know yet, this is my favorite game.

Sentimental Saturday: Starfox 64

Sentimental Saturdays is a new series of back to the classics gaming series I have decided to start.  Every Saturday I will be looking to the past for an excellent game to review, if you have requests, tell us about it by commenting.

Star Fox 64 is an old game, it was released in 1997 soon after
the N 64. It was the first game to have and use a rumble pak ( a pak
that rumbles when you do certain things in a game.) This was the
second installment of the star fox series.

Story Line

Star Fox 64 has a basic storyline. Andross ( a very powerful
monkey) lives on Venom, starts to take over other worlds. The
government hire you, (Fox McCloud) and your crew of animals, Peppy (a
rabbit), Slippy (a frog), and Falco (a bird) to defend the universe
and regain control before Andross completely owns.

Story Line: Basic but includes owning = 7 out of 10

Game Play

I was reading through an old Nintendo Power when I read an
article about Star Fox so I bought it. This game proves that old
games can still be fun. While flying in Star Fox 64 it feels smooth
and enjoyable. If you have a rumble pak it rumbles when you get hit,
brake, accelerate, and shoot. There are different routes you can
take, some are harder and some are easier. The game play is pretty
sweet. They added this feature called All Range mode where you can
fly any where.

Game Play: Shake, Rattle, and Roll = 10 out of 10

Sound

The voice overs aren’t so good and mostly just annoying. “Help
Fox”, “Look out behind you Fox”, “Watch out Fox” repeated over and
over in the course of a level. The sounds of the gunfire and bombs
are good though. The music is alright.

Sound: Annoying but good shooting = 6 out of 10

Graphics

The graphics are old. In ‘ 97 the graphics were top of the line.
Now there still good, you can still tell whats going on and say, “Wow, these are good.”  They don’t look too
bad, you would expect to see graphics like that on a Nintendo DS, and also (sad to say it) on the Wii.

Graphics: Not Half bad, actually really good. = 9 out of 10

Overall: Good old game = 8 out of 10

ESRB rating is E for Everyone

Another day in the life.

Well, recently I have been playing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for my Wii and I must say it is dandy. For my DS I’ve been fooling around with Jam sessions and fondling with the idea of spending 40 bucks on Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2. I’m just letting you guys know, I’ve had my DS since Christmas ‘04 and I love it (that means its the big gray one.) My Xbox 360 has been seeing a bit of action recently since my brothers friend has brought over Rock Band. I see Rock Band as a great multi-player game, lots of fun to play with your friends. Also me and my brother have been playing a good bit of NBA live 2008.

As a big retro gamer I have been waiting for a couple of excellent classics to come out on the Wii’s VC. Mainly Earthbound but also games like Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger. Today I read some news thats made me quite happy, almost as happy as I was when I found out about Tales of Symphonia 2: Dawn of the New World, but not quite. You might have thought, maybe one of these games made it to the VC, I’m quite sad to say but no, no awesome classic RPG’s have come out yet. But its better, Chrono Trigger has been announced on the DS as a remake. Yes. I can’t bottle my excitement. This truly is good news. Square-Enix has it set for a release in North America this Holiday season, which is a bit far but when waiting for a video game I guess its worth it. But I’m still Waiting for Earthbound and Secret of Mana.
