Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

If that isn’t a long game title I don’t know what is.  This is a remake of one the most acclaimed fighters of all time.  People still play the original Street Fighter II just like people still play the original Counterstrike.  The reason they do this is because these games are legendary, perfect.

The one thing that everyone will immediately notice is the visual style.  The graphics are incredible.  HD looks gorgeous, especially on a 2-D game.  The characters animations are fluid and amazing.  Another thing that is a big upgrade are the backgrounds to every match.  Every level has very animated scenes in back of the players, sometimes so lively that you forget who you should be punching at!

Besides the visual overhaul, there are some changes to the players moves and also a full online mode.  You can take your skills and fight people from all around the world to see who the true world warrior is.  I’ve heard from beta testers that the connection speed is fast and fluid, and there are no hiccups during matches, which in any fighting game, really matters.

Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will be available for download on the  Xbox Live Arcade, or the Playstation Network sometime this month, which means within two weeks.  This will surely tide me over until Street Fighter IV.  More on that later.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Personally I am really really looking forward to this game.  Last night I saw Clone Wars and wasn’t too impressed but certainly it was a star wars film that I needed to see.  The Forced Unleashed is a brand new story based on Darth Vader’s apprentice.  The story takes place between episode 3 and 4.  The developers wanted to make a game based on the force and they came up with Force Unleashed.  There are many force moves to chose from and most of them appear outrageously devastating.  In the game you will use the force(and your lightsaber) to destroy rouge Jedi per command of Darth Vader.  This is going to be released September 16 for the XBOX 360, PS3, Wii, Nintendo DS, and PSP.  Yes, I think this game is going to ROCK, I just hope it delivers

Mega Man 9

As you all probably knew already, Mega Man 9 is coming to Wiiware soon and should be an excellent game.  A new classic Mega Man game?  What could be better?  It’s not only coming out on Wiiware, but it’s also being released on the 360 and the PS3 and their respectful download services.  Great news because everybody is a winner.  Mega Man games are hard, and I could never actually beat one.  This time I’m gonna do it.  Look for a full review of this game around the time it comes out (which is probably in a couple of weeks).

As you can see above, it mentions all of the systems networks.  Yay!

HADOUKEN!!!

Street Fighter is a legendary fighting game, one definitely for the books. I believe that Street Fighter 2 is possible the best fighting game that has been made. I remember spending (possibly wasting) a good amount of quarters in the arcade on it. Anyway the point is Street Fighter 4 is coming to the XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 sometime in 2009 (for America). Capcom claims that Street Fighter 4 goes back to its glory days from Street Fighter 2. I highly recommend looking up some video footage of the game. Just typing about this game has got me pretty excited for it. I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

Just some words, and some Galaxies.

So it’s fall. Actually it’s almost winter sortof. This is the season for great games, and that statement is so true. This fall is one of the most hugest in video game history. A bevy of super cool games. Already we have seen, Warhawk, Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Orange Box, Skate, Ratchet and Clank, Guitar Hero III, Fire Emblem, and Zelda. These are just some of the titles that have come out, I’m sure I missed a bunch. The great thing is that there is still a good chunk of fall left. As the weeks go on and the games come, I will hope to keep you updated. On the gaming radar today is one of the biggest games this year. Super Mario Galaxy is out. This game is insane, I can proudly say that and I haven’t even played any of it. The animation is slick, the gameplay is tight, and the experience is out of this world, pun intended. Mario is at his best, in space, jumping around like the little Italian he is. Galaxy brings new costumes into the picture, including a bee suit, a boo suit, a fire suit, ice suit, and many more. There are a plethora of galaxies to play, and a horde of stars to collect. This game may may be the best platformer since SMB 3! Mario’s games have been a little rough lately, what with all of the spinoffs, but this one makes up for it big time. I wonder what they are going to think of next? I can’t even think about it?

I am now a proud owner of a Playstation 3. I took the plunge and now am enjoying some nice gaming. The interface is slick, the system is beautiful, graphics are amazing, and the gameplay is all over the place depending what game you play. So far I have only played Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and its amazing. The first time I had ever played a Ps3 was incredible because I had never really seen any game in real life before, just videos on the net. I know gameplay is important, and it is, but let me tell you, the graphics look amazing, it went from the opening cutscene to the game and I was like, wait the movie stopped? I’ll give you a review tomorrow. I would suggest picking up a Ps3, its worth it. With a flood of great titles coming this fall, I should be set as a gamer.

My Zelda

I have received the Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.  Due to time limitations of my busy schedule, Ive only had like an hour to fool around with it, but so far it’s the best DS experience I have had.  Single player that is.  The games graphics are top noch.  I understand that the DS has its limits, but some games look all grainy and stuff.  This game seems to bypass that with very little bad graphicking.  In other words, it blows alot of other stuff out of the water.  I personally think they should make some 2-d Metroid, Zelda, and Mario on the DS.  Heck, even the Wii.  I was thinking, and wouldn’t 2-d games run insanely fast and smooth on a newer system like those?  I think it’s a no brainer.  I’m going to start a game studio and make 2-d games for the new systems.  Another thing on that note about the systems.  I was realizing how little time is in between each new console.  It seemed like yesterday that the ps2 and xbox etc, were top of the line.  Time just really flies I guess.  It’s been two years since the xbox 360 launched so that’s like another 3-4 right?  I think they should just stick with a system for longer.  I do really love how technology advances, its just a little heavy on your pocket.  I also missed out on staying up all night and waiting in line for any of the new ones.  Me and my fellow blogger, editor, whatever his/our title is, are going to be there next time, in a few or four years.  This has been a collection of things I’ve been storing in my brain today, thanks for listening.

Console Updates

Some news today.  The Playstation 3 is going to have a new SKU.  That means that there is going to be a new model perse.  It will be released this fall.  The system is supposed to be cheaper than ever, at $400.  Thats one sweet deal, because you would pay more than that just for a BD player, and your getting the Ps3 on top of it.  The console will have wifi thankfully, but is supposed to drop its usb port count to make it have 2.  Who the heck cares about that anyway?  And their dropping memory card readers.  Big deal.  So this is pretty substantial news folks, this could boost the Ps3’s sales.  I know it will.  On a side note, Microsoft has officially abandoned the Core system.  Who bought that thing anyway?  They are however rumored to release a system codenamed “arcade”.  It lacks a hard drive, comes with a wireless controller, comes with a memory card and is the same exact thing as the flippin core.  No word yet on when the Arcade will be “unleashed”.

What’s next?

Halo 3 happened. Granted, it’s still going to be news years from now, the main event is over. As I am always looking to the future, I am wondering what next milestone game is next? Halo Wars bears the name and has the potential to be great, but lets take our eyes off of the Bungie ok? Konami is producing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. This game looks to be insane. It’s crazy in the effect that it has spectacular graphics, amazing gameplay, and a great story. It’s not out yet, but its one of the games that I am most looking forward to. It’s one of the reasons to own a Playstation 3. The second reason? Final Fantasy XIII and its counterpart, Final Fantasy XIII Versus. These games are going to go through the roof in the aspect of everything. Forger your little Halo and Gears, this is freaking Final Fantasy! I have no idea into how far Square-Enix is in development (probably 2008-2009 release) but it will be worth the wait. Like MGS4, these games have it all, graphics, gameplay, and story. Those are my some of my top games that are coming out. Other ones that look to be amazing are: Assassins Creed, Call of Duty 4, Star Wars: Force Unleashed, Killzone 2, Mass Effect, Super Smash Brothers, Metal Gear Online, Super Mario Galaxy, and a ton of other games. I consider myself fortunate to be alive in this era where video games are evolving so much.

No going home for a while

Sony’s thing called “Home” will be delayed until Spring 2008.  They are fixing the user interface.  This really doesn’t bother me one bit.  I don’t want to “live” virtually.  Overall it looks pretty cool and sounds interesting, but just not for me personally.  I’m sure the delay will make it a better experience, I mean just look at how many games were delayed seemingly forever, Zelda anyone?  So yea thats pretty much it.
