The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

So in all honesty, I absolutely love Zelda games.  But when Wind Waker came out I was one of those people who said that the cel shading looked childish.  It really put me off from playing it cause I thought (and to a degree sill think) that the art form portrays the way a game plays.  Recently with the announcement of Spirit Tracks I realized that if I don’t play any cel shaded Zelda games, it appears as though I’m missing out of three of my favorite franchises games (of course Phantom Hourglass being the other).

So I went out and picked up The Wind Waker, against my own opinions.  I’ve not actually heard bad things about the game from my friends.  So anyway, I picked it up and now I guess I’m like 3/8 of the way in because I’ve collected the 3 pearls.  If you were wondering how I guessed that, it was purely based off of Ocarina of Time.  So far the game has been good, not to childish like I once had thought.  The only complaint I have about it is that sailing takes forever and doesn’t really enhance the gameplay.  The only interesting part of sailing so far for me was when I encountered sharks for the first time, the dramatic music and them knocking me out of the boat had me pretty scared.  Oh, and I personally don’t like the actually Wind Waker, nothing specific I just don’t like it.

All in all so far I really enjoy The Wind Waker.  I can’t really wait until I beat it and then start to play Phantom Hourglass.  For some reason I just think that playing a Zelda for the DS should be the coolest thing.
