Virtual Monday: November 17th

So this is it, actually tomorrow is it but yesterday was the closest Virtual Console release to the two year anniversary mark of the Nintendo Wii.  And what did they release?

For the Super Nintendo we get Spaced Invaders:  The Original Game.  This game probably made a lot of money when it was in the arcade.  It in itself isn’t a bad game, a little dated but still pretty fun.  The thing is, its just that with the 2nd anniversary of the Wii I figured that the game would be a little more Nintendo than Spaced Invaders.  Like, I don’t know, Maybe Majora’s Mask?  But I won’t talk about Majora’s Mask right now.  Anyway  I was really wishing it would be more about Nintendo than about third party this week.

Next on the VC list is Forgotten Worlds for the Sega Genesis.  I haven’t played this game but looking into it it kinda reminds me of Contra.  This is a side-scrolling shooting game.  If you’re a fan of this genre, by all means get it.  Like destroy everything on the screen kinda deal.  So as you can see, this is not a First party title.  But at least we are still getting VC games.

For the WiiWare aspect of things comes number 4 in an ongoing series of which I am a fan.  Strong Bad’s cool game for attractive people Episode 4.  I’ve enjoyed Homestar and Strong Bad since 2002 so when I heard (a while ago) about the Strong Bad episodes on WiiWare I was excited to see the gang doing some outreaching.

So these were yesterday’s release on the Virtual Console.  Not quite the games we want to see but hey, they could have been a lot worse.  We could have gotten Shaq Fu (no offense to Shaq).  Well this is Tuesday and this has been a Virtual Monday.
